INGREDIENTS WE DON'T INCLUDE AND WHY

Dairy Free

Dairy, especially main stream dairy, is highly inflammatory in the body. Not only is it pasteurized, which removes all the vitamins and nutrients, it is then typically fortified with sub-par, low bio available man made nutrients.  Many adults may feel their arthritis gets better if they remove dairy from their diet. Teenagers may find that removing dairy helps with reducing acne. Menstruating women may also find their PMS symptoms ease off after removing dairy. Dairy also creates mucus in the body, if you're constantly blowing your nose or clearing your throat because of a post nasal drip, try cutting out dairy for a minimum 3 weeks.

DAIRY-FREE

Gluten Free

Gluten is actually a family of proteins found in wheat, rye, barley and triticale. There are a variety of negative health issues that gluten can have on the body. There's Celiac disease, which is an auto-immune disease where gluten seriously affects and destroys the little villi in the small intestines. This disease is very painful and can be dangerous as the lack of villi can lead to nutrient deficiencies. There's Hashimoto's thyroiditis which is when consuming gluten triggers an auto-immune response toward the thyroid gland. The immune response in Hashimoto cases is to create anti-bodies towards the gluten molecule, however the molecules that make up the thyroid gland resemble gluten molecules, enough so that the immune system will see it as a clump of gluten molecules to destroy and so it does. Or you could simply feel bloated, get cramps, have gas, and/or swing between solid and loose stool. Because most wheat is genetically modified it is not as natural to the body. Man manipulated foods, vitamins and minerals tend not be as bioavailable to the body, meaning that you're not getting the nutritional value of the real thing. There are no decade long, large studies with enough diversity to say how they will impact the body, we the population are the experiment when it comes to genetically modified foods. Are you in or are you out? We at YG are out.

GLUTEN-FREE

Egg Free

Eggs are not a bad thing, but healthy eggs from healthy chickens are important. A healthy truly free-range chicken able to eat bugs from grass is an egg you want to eat if you can tolerate eggs. However, a lot of people can't tolerate eggs, well egg whites in particular as they contain the proteins. If you suffer digestive issues and "leaky gut" like most of us do, then you may find your digestive issues subside when you remove eggs.

However, some people can tolerate eggs just fine. For people who DO EAT EGGS you can replace the unsweetened applesauce in our recipes for eggs.

1/4 cup of unsweetened applesauce = 1 egg

1/2 cup of unsweetened applesauce = 2 eggs.

GMO Free

GMO's or genetically modified organisms, are man altered foods. Altered at the DNA or RNA level which affects the growth of the food and its subsequent generations. There are no well established, decades long studies done on a vast array of humans to show the effects ingesting genetically modified foods. Yet, there are quite a few of them out there in our everyday life. Unfortunately, when it comes to altering our food at a genetic level it is an experiment that is taking place amongst society as a whole. The scariest thing is that large food corporations have opted to put pesticides into the genetic makeup of the plant so that when a bug bites into the plant it will ingest the pesticide from within the plant as well as from whatever's been sprayed on the plant. Pesticides are neurotoxins. When we eat these types of plants or even plants only sprayed with pesticides we are ingesting the same neurotoxins as the bug. Although this may not kill us like it does the bug, it causes much damage to major areas of the body like the brain, the gut and our liver.

No Preservatives

The only preservative that may be safe to the body are tocopherols derived from the antioxidant vitamin E. The reason I say tocopherols may be safe is because it all depends on where the tocopherols were derived from. If it was an organic, non GMO plant source of vitamin E, then yes said tocopherols would be safe and possibly beneficial. Sadly, a lot of the time this is not the case and the tocopherols come from GMO plants sprayed in pesticides. At YG, we believe that one preservative is one too many. That's why we make small batches of our products and store our ingredients properly in a dry environment, fridge or freezer.
